About This Beer

A Nectaron-focused pale ale brewed with Sam and Alex. A straightforward recipe designed to show what Nectaron does in a clean pale ale format: three malts, one hop, US-05.

American Ale anchors the base, Vienna adds warmth and roundness, Toffee contributes caramel depth and colour.

All Nectaron, across boil, an 80°C whirlpool and a day-7 dry hop. Its pineapple, passionfruit and peach is the entire hop story, and at this rate into 24 litres it is a generous showcase charge.

Fermentation

US-05 at 18°C under light pressure, 4 psi. Raised to 20°C after the day-7 dry hop with the spunding valve closed to capture CO2. Pressure built to the mid twenties before cooling and a counter-pressure transfer to the All Rounder.

Packaging and tasting

Mixed packaging on day 15, carbonated to 2.4 volumes.

Tasted at packaging: strong Nectaron aroma, good body and foam, balanced sweetness and bitterness. An uncomplicated batch that delivered exactly what the hop promises.
