Interesting nose with hints of old socks (typical of Nectaron — similar to Citra). Smooth mouthfeel with peachy flavours from the late cryo additions.
About This Beer
A SMASH take on the League of Brewers Samashadelic recipe, which was originally Maris Otter, Superdelic and BRY-97. Owen’s runs the same concept on American Ale Malt and Nectaron.
The grain bill is a single malt and nothing else. Nectaron pellets run across the boil, then Nectaron Cryo replaces the standard pellets from the whirlpool onward, in the stand below 80°C and again as a day-4 dry hop.
Fermentation
Two packets of Pomona at moderate temperatures. Bottled 17 July 2025.
How it turned out
The nose has the characteristic Nectaron edge, tropical and slightly funky, with peachy notes from the cryo additions coming through clearly in the finish. Smooth and easy drinking.
